About Us

Austin Associates Limited was established by Leo Austin in 1997 to provide business and financial advisory services to corporate clients.

Leo Austin has a background in corporate finance and banking, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand; the Institute of Directors in New Zealand; and is a mentor for Business in the Community. He is also President of the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc.

He held senior finance positions in major corporates for some twelve years before entering the banking industry in 1981.

As projects manager in the Treasury Division of a major New Zealand bank, he was responsible for a number of significant, and innovative, projects.

In 1984 he moved to the Corporate Banking function of Barclays New Zealand, and in 1986 was transferred to the Tokyo Branch of Barclays Bank PLC.

In Japan he was responsible for marketing sophisticated financial products and generating new business opportunities with major Japanese corporates and financial institutions.

In Tokyo, he was also responsible for establishing and managing the Bank’s Japanese cross-border leveraged leasing and defeasance activities. This operation included the private placement with Japanese banks and investors of both normal and aircraft lease related debt.

For the whole of his term in Japan, he was a member of the Barclays Bank Tokyo Branch Credit Committee.
